Visiting North-Brabant
Starry, starry nights
There are so many things to do in North-Brabant, and did we mention exploring the home town of Van-Gogh should be on your list?
This area of Holland was hugely significant to Vincent Van Gogh. Pretty Nuenen, especially, had a big impression on him. Visit his cottage, alongside the beautiful pastor's house. Tilburg, too, is rich in history and culture - the man learned to draw here.
Design heaven
No culture fix would be complete without a visit to the design capital of Holland. Home of the Philips electronics firm, Eindhoven is an old city with vision ahead of its time – from the factory where the first electric light was made, to the futuristic Evoluon museum shaped like a UFO.
Water wonderland
Oosterschelde National Park, Sint-Annaland, is the country’s largest national park and world heritage site is a watery wonderland of mud flats and grassy islands, which you can explore via its wooden boardwalks. See if you can spot seals in its salt waters!

Spot hundreds of animals on safari
The animal reserve right on parc is home to more than 1,000 residents, including lions, rhinos, gorillas, hyenas and zebras. You can spot them from the comfort of a bus, by boat, or get a closer look during feeding times throughout the day.
Experience Vincent Van Gogh’s Holland
From his first drawing classes in Tilburg, to the landscapes of Nuenen that inspired a complete body of work, this area of Holland was hugely significant to Vincent Van Gogh. Try your hand at drawing in the digital classroom or follow a cycle path through the countryside.
Try beer tasting at a village brewery
Beer brewery De Roos is one of the last-surviving village breweries in the country and is a great place to try locally brewed beers. You can either take a tour to learn more about the brewing process, or simply pull up a chair at the friendly pub on site.
Enjoy a light bulb moment in Eindhoven
Philips, the world-famous electronics company was established by in Eindhoven in 1891. The Philips Museum in the city pays homage to the Dutch company, telling its story from the first carbon wire light bulbs to modern lighting systems, using a range of interactive exhibitions.
Explore the wilderness at a National Park
This area of the country offers amazing access to some of the biggest and most unusual National Parks in the land. Oosterschelde is a watery wonderland where you can seal-spot, whilst the Dunes of Loon and Drunen lie at the other extreme, a mini ‘desert’ of shifting sands and drifting dunes.

Towns and villages
As the second largest province in the Netherlands, it is no wonder there are so many towns to explore in North-Brabant.
Den Bosch
Den Bosch (or, S-Hertogenbosch) is a great choice for a day trip. A lively, likeable city with a busy calendar of festivals and family fun throughout the summer, the city’s great for simply wandering around its old town centre with its medieval architecture, or taking a boat tour of its ancient canal system. There’s a great Design Museum too, for the artistically inclined.
Breda
A trip to historic Breda isn’t complete without seeing three of its most beautifully preserved old buildings: the Great Church, where you can climb its tower for a superb view across the city, picturesque Breda castle and Begijnhof old residential court. There’s also a contemporary edge to this place, with plenty of chic shops, boutiques and a bustling market square too.
Tilburg
This lively little town offers up a rich mix of history and culture to enjoy. There’s the Textiel Museum, offering a look into the past workings of the textile industry, and De Pont Museum, a striking home for modern art and sculpture.
Nuenen
Vincent van Gogh might only have spent two years in pretty Nuenen, but the town had a big impression on the artist. Visit his cottage, alongside to the beautiful pastor's house - a shrine to art lovers. His time here is known as his dark period. The town also witnessed a crucial battle during WWII during operation Market Garden.
Eindhoven
They call this vibrant city the design capital of Holland. They have a point. The city’s alive with museums, galleries and craft centres showcasing the ingenuity and creativity of this nation. It’s home to the multinational Philips electronics firm, – from the factory where they invented first electric light is now a cutting edge museum, and ‘The Blob’ is a futuristic design worth seeking out.
History

In Den Bosch you will find 'museum quarter'. Here you can learn all about the history, art and culture of North-Brabant.
Heeswijk Castle
Heeswijk Castle has a 1,000 year history for you to marvel at on your visits here. It is also known as 'Brabant Castle' and has been the home of Brabant nobility for many years. It has seen the likes of Kings, Princes and Barons here over its time.
Helmond Castle
Helmond Castle sits in the city centre of Helmond - dating back to 1325, this castle is worth a visit. There is plenty to do here for children and adults alike, with breathtaking scenery and activities.

Alongside the art and culture you will experience in North-Brabant, you should also be prepared for unmatched natural beauty.
Biesbosch National Park
This intriguing place is a unique freshwater delta comprising about 8,000 hectares of small rivers and streams. This nature reserve offers great opportunities for walking, cycling and even canoeing. Look out for the beaver dams throughout the wetlands.
De Groote Peel National park
This special, internationally renowned wetland area is a peaceful escape from the everyday. It’s home to one of the largest and most varied bird populations in Western Europe, with over 200 bird species - how many can you spot? Or, for that matter, name?
Safari park, Beekse Bergen
Every day at the safari park various animals like tigers, sea lions, elephants and gorillas are fed during a walking trail. Not only will you get a great view of the animals, the ranger will explain more about the eating habits and diets of the various species. It’s a great way to structure your day and guarantee you get up close to your favourite creatures.

Pukkemuk Dongen
Colourful outdoor play area for little ones, with go-kart tracks, water toboggan ride, sit-on tractors, pet-zoo and splash pool. There’s an indoor adventure course for those inclement days too - and a decent café for parents. Great for a few hours’ playtime.
Enjoy Tilburg’s parks
The best things in life are free, and you’ll certainly agree after a walk or run amongst Tilburg’s range of woodlands. Leijpark and Reeshofpark are the largest, with a small lake at the latter.
Dunes of Loon and Drunen, North Brabant
Welcome to the so-called Brabant Sahara – 30 square kilometres of shifting sands, formed 10,000 years ago. This is a desert with a difference; take a guided tour and you’ll discover its variety of plans and animals too.
Biesbosch National Park, Dordrecht
There are a range of ways to explore the network of rivers and creeks at this National Park – hiking, cycling, canoeing or boat tours. Bring your binoculars and look out for the resident population of waterfowl and geese.
Van Gogh Cycling Route, Nuenen
Starting at the Vincentre, follow 17 information pillars that are dotted along the beautiful route and learn the significance of specific sites to the artworks of legendary Dutch painter, Vincent Van Gogh, who lived in Nuenen in the 1880s.
